What Happens During the Procedure?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia and takes approximately one to two hours. Dr. Gigena will reduce the breast size by cutting out the excess glandular tissue, using liposuction, or a combination of the two.

Through small incisions made on the chest, a thin cannula is inserted, delivering vibrations that help detach the excess fat cells from the breast tissue. These dislodged fat cells are then suctioned out through the cannula for an exquisitely defined chest.

Recovery

After your procedure, you will experience some bruising, swelling, and tenderness. Dr. Gigena will give you a compression garment to wear for the first four to six weeks. This will minimize swelling and aid the healing process for your new chest contours.

Pain medications may be prescribed to control any soreness or discomfort. Most patients can return to work after one week of recovery, although heavy exercise and other strenuous activities must be avoided for the first four to six weeks.

Results

While the results are immediately noticeable, you will begin to see the chiseled definition of your newly contoured chest appear more and more as the swelling subsides. The results are long-lasting, but you can maintain the definition by exercising and eating a healthy diet.

Any potential scarring resulting from your male breast reduction surgery will likely be concealed within the natural contours of your chest. However, visible scars gradually fade over time. Proper sun protection helps to reduce the appearance of scarring for optimal results.
